UFC in Bidding War to Buy Pride!?

UFC in a Bidding War Over Pride?!

Rumor: A Bidding War For Pride?

Sources close to the situation report that a bidding war between UFC and Ed
Fishman’s group is brewing. Conflicting reports have circulated around the MMA
media the past few days, however none of them are true.

What is known is that Nobu Sakikabara’s group owns 85% of the company. However the
real mystery that has industry sources nervous is who really owns the remaining
15%?  The UFC nor Fishman’s group know for sure. Because of The Fertitta’s and
Fishman’s casino gaming licenses, they may be treading on murky waters depending
on who that Really belongs to.  Tensions were high as members of Pride’s staff are
already taking sides. The feeling around the office now, is that UFC taking over
would be a disaster.

What is fact, is both sides want 30 days to have their lawyers do their due
diligence, to see the real numbers and assets, debts, etc of the company. Pride
Officials feel giving UFC access to the books could be an invitation for disaster.
They could back out of the deal after getting all their proprietary information.

Pride is needs to pay some debts in Japan and is in need of a fast infusion of
cash. Pride officials state that both sides need to reevaluate their offers. Pride
will make a decision after the Feb 24th show.
