Beer will be flowing and fists will be flying Saturday evening in UFC 67 ‘’All or Nothing'’. The Main Event features Anderson ‘’The Spider'’ Silva (17-4-0) vs. Travis Lutter (12-3-0) in a Middleweight Championship bout.
Silva enters the Octagon as the favorite (-400) but before you invest on the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist there are some things you should consider. First, two of Silva’s four career losses came by way of submission from underdog fighters such as Lutter, who is known for his submission skills (+300).
Silva is a striker and will attempt to keep the fight standing up, while Lutter will try to take the action to the ground where he’s best. Lutter is a submission specialist and Silva has proven he is vulnerable to such tactics. If Lutter can endure strikes from Silva and take him down, the puppy may be able to bark.
Lutter’s last win came by way of submission (arm bar) over Patrick Cote at November’s ‘The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale’. He also beat Pete Sell and Edwin Dewees, making him victorious in his last three fights.
In Silva’s last fight, he knocked out Chris Leben in 49 seconds in June and became middleweight champion with a one-round TKO demolition of Rich Franklin four months later at UFC 64. The Croatia native is one of the most intimidating figures in the UFC.
In the undercard, Mirko ‘’Cro Cop'’ Filipovic (21-4-2) will be making his UFC debut against Eddie Sanchez (8-0) in a heavyweight bout. The 32-year-old international superstar enters this fight as a huge favorite (-1400). He’s a hard-punching veteran with a lot of experience.
The ‘’Cro Cop'’ made his pro debut in 1996 at the age of 21 and over the next seven years he fought the elite of the sport, beating, among others: Jerome LeBanner, Peter Aerts, Mark Hunt, and Remy Bonjasky.
Sanchez plays role of puppy at +900, basically due to his lack of experience. He owns a UFC record of 8-0 but it’s likely he’ll be handed his first loss Saturday night.
Quinton ‘’Rampage'’ Jackson (25-6-0) will also be making his UFC debut. Jackson brings heavy hands with powerful slams to the cage. Jackson comes into this fight as the chalk at -700. He’ll be facing Marvin Eastman (13-6-1), who handed ‘’Rampage'’ his first career loss in 2000. Eastman will try to profit as the underdog at +500.
In addition to these great fights, John "The Hurricane" Halverson (13-4-0) will take on Roger Huerta (17-1-1) and Patrick ‘’The Predator'’ Cote (9-4-0) battles Scott Smith (12-2-0).
