 * * * * HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (CP) - Light-heavyweight (Sugar) Rashad Evans ran his mixed martial arts record to 15-0 Thursday, knocking out Sean Salmon with a stunning high kick in the main event of the UFC’s Ultimate Fight Night card.

The right-footed kick to the head left Salmon out cold as he toppled to the canvas like a sack of potatoes. Evans added to his pain with a couple of punches to the face before referee Troy Waugh stepped in at 1:06 of the second round.

"I’m pretty satisfied, I’m not satisfied that he’s still laying there," Rashad said in the ring after the fight.

Salmon dropped to 9-2 in his UFC debut after the loss to Evans, a winner on Season 2 of The Ultimate Fighter reality TV show, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Earlier, unbeaten Irish (Jake) O’Brien spoiled the UFC debut of Heath (Texas Crazy Horse) Herring, taking the former Pride heavyweight down at will.

Herring, who fell to 26-12 with one no contest, tagged O’Brien twice but was dominated the rest of the fight in losing a unanimous decision. O’Brien improved to 10-0.

Elsewhere on the undercard, Brazilian lightweight Hermes Franca stopped Spencer (The King) Fisher at 4:03 in the second round. Franca caught Fisher with a looping right and then kept swinging at his dazed opponent until referee Jorge Alonso stepped in.

"Boom," Franca said in the ring as he watched a replay of the big right.

Taking a page out of Canadian Georges St. Pierre’s book, Franca then got down on his knees in the middle of the ring and begged the UFC for a title shot.

St. Pierre did the same thing and was eventually rewarded with a title shot, which he used to dethrone welterweight champion Matt Hughes in November.

Also Thursday, middleweight Ed (Short Fuse) Herman, choked out by Canadian Jason MacDonald last time out, defeated Chris (The Exorcist) Price via armbar submission at 2:58 of the first round.

Price weighed in at 192 pounds, over the 185-pound limit, but Herman gave the go-ahead to fight.
