Kalib Starnes added to undercard of UFC 71 in Las Vegas

Kalib Starnes Canadian middleweight Kalib Starnes will fight Chris (The Crippler) Leben on the undercard of UFC 71 on May 26 in Last Vegas, the UFC confirmed Friday.

Starnes, from Surrey, B.C., is 1-1 in the UFC after making it to the semifinal of Season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter reality TV show. He lost to Yushin Okama last time out, at UFC 64 in October.

Leben, a graduate of Season 1 of The Ultimate Fighter, was submitted by Jason MacDonald of Red Deer, Alta., at UFC 66 in December.

Starnes isn’t the only Canadian fighting later this month at the MGM. Canadian-born, Seattle-based middleweight Ivan Salaverry returns to the UFC with a bout against Terry Martin.

Elsewhere on the UFC 71 card, light-heavyweight Keith Jardine will tackle Houston Alexander. The Dean of Mean is coming off an impressive win over Forrest Griffin at UFC 66.

Alexander is a newcomer to the UFC with a 6-1 record

UFC 71 is headlined by light-heavyweights Chuck (The Iceman) Liddell and Quinton (Rampage) Jackson in a rematch of the 2003 Pride fight won by Jackson.

Other undercard bouts see Carmelo Marrero drop from heavyweight to light-heavyweight to face Wilson Gouveia.
