Fighnews reports after last nights boxing fight - On an interesting side note Floyd Mayweather Jr. cleared up some questions about his rumored life after boxing. In the past weeks boxing’s widely regarded pound for pound champion had made derogatory comments about mixed martial arts and its fighters, prompting UFC President Dana White to reportedly offer Floyd Mayweather Jr. a fight against current UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk to prove if Mayweather’s suspicions of mixed martial arts fighters were true.
Mayweather Jr. swallowed his pride and sincerely stated to Fightnews that he has no plans of competing in any organization of mixed martial arts,
"I apologize to the UFC, sometimes we say things that we shouldn’t have said and I’m man enough to admit that. I apologize to the Fertittas, Lorenzo and Dana White (UFC owners). I respect MMA fighters and what they do in the UFC. I have no plans of fighting in mixed martial arts."

I am glad he made this apology because that really pissed me off that he said that. I was not pleased with his performance against Lahoya, and for him to come out and say he could beat anyone in MMA, was pathetic.

Boxing is one dimensional, think about it, its not even 15% off MMA. MMA is far more superior. Put an MMA fighter in a boxing ring and of course they’ll getting beaten. But a boxer anywhere else would get destoryed by an MMA fighter. Boxings rules protect them. If boxers are better than why did mayweather come right out and apoligize! lawrence, if you knew anything about MMA, you would know a large amount of fighters started off as boxers. A lot of the mare golden gloves champs, and hold a lot of other boxing ranks. You cant compare a boxers foot work to an mma fighters, boxers dont have to prepare for kicks and takedowns, the fighting stances are obviously going to be different. And you say the sport is dominated by white people? If anything, it’s dominated by brazillians. Yeah, theres a good amount of white people, good amount of black people too. I wasn’t talking about MMA and Boxing in terms of sanctioned sporting events I was talking about them as a whole. MMA is full contact fighting, boxing is a sport controlled by rules. As is fighting in PRIDE or the UFC but the difference is MMA in or outside of those organizations is still MMA. Do you think that before the Greeks invented boxing not one person was involved in a physical fight? Because that fight would have be considered a form of MMA. What came first boxing or MMA? The clear answer is MMA. Boxing is a limited and refined form of MMA and a far less superior one. Think about it martial arts is combat with striking, clinching, grappling, etc.. Therefore boxing is a type of martial art. Mix martial arts (UFC & PRIDE) just add in the other components. So to say that MMA has only been around for “40 years tops” is the most ridiculus statement on this page, since all forms of fighting in one way or another are some form of MA or a limited version of MMA
Its amazing how much further the U.S. needs to go in terms of color clearly noticed after reading these comments. The MMA is an amazing sport and should be given its respect. The MMA is unique because you get to see so many styles conform together in minutes you see years of learned techniques manuevered in seconds. I am a better fan to the MMA than boxing because boxing can be so boring its 2007 peeps get tired of watching black men beat up white men with the MMA it gives white fighters a chance to show what they can do cause they can’t do it in the boxing ring. I think from a bussiness point of view it does not make sense, floyd mayweather makes way to much money boxing. Mayweather makes umpteen times as much in one fight as the ufc champ.I agree with the people being intrested in mma due to it being dominated by white fighters, as fo dana white being concerned it sounds like sour grapes from a pissed off boxer who never made it.
